Independence Rd. Phase 3 Project Update
Posted on Thursday July 13, 2017
Here is the latest news and updates regarding the Independence Road Phase III project. Major construction began in April of 2016 and the target completion date was April 2, 2017 but due to numerous delays it is estimated the project will not be completed until early summer.
Pavement Solutions (PS) is the General Contractor for the construction of the roadway improvements. A recently revised construction schedule from PS shows July 28, 2017, as the date to be complete and begin addressing any punch list items.  PS continues to be assessed liquidated damages of $1,225/day against the Contractor's pay requests until the project is fully complete.

Up coming work:

Work on John Linn Place is scheduled to begin the week of 7/17/17 at which time local traffic from Nancy Lane and John Linn Pl. will have to use the old portion of Nancy Lane as a detour to access Independence Rd. PS will be raising a stormwater inlet and regrading around the sides of John Linn Pl. A design change had been made here that will raise it by approximately 2' to improve the side slopes and eliminated the blind spot that has been created with the current excavation depth on John Linn Pl.

Grading and preparation of the trail sub-grade is occurring now along the entire north side of Independence Rd.

Final grading, retaining wall fencing and sodding along the roadway is all pending work that needs to be completed.

The final driving course of asphalt for Independence Rd. will not be paved until all major work is completed along the roadway sides so as to not damage the final driving surface.
