Independence Rd. Phase 3 Project Update
Posted on Friday August 11, 2017
Here is the latest news and updates regarding the Independence Road Phase III project.
Pavement Solutions (PS) is the General Contractor for the construction of the roadway improvements. PS continues to be assessed liquidated damages of $1,225/day against the Contractor's Payment Requests until the project is fully complete which includes any corrections of deficiencies.

Recent work:

PS placed the final pavement and striped the roadway on August 3rd, however, the City has not yet accepted this work or the final product. After an initial walk through between the Contractor, project engineers and the City, it was clear there are numerous areas where deficiencies exist. A complete summary has not been finalized yet but an initial punch list is being prepared. The City has not accepted the final work and is closely reviewing the quality of the work.

Upcoming work:

PS will continue to work on auxiliary roadway tasks such as removal of rock/asphalt debris from the lawn areas. Preparation of lawn for sod. Additional grading must be completed in several locations, gravel driveways need to be finished, repairs to irrigation systems, invisible dog fences, and removal and replacement of broken or cracked concrete aprons and curbing all still must be completed.

Final sodding of dirt areas will hold off until later this fall, because if the sod is laid now it will not survive the summer heat. The contractor will be responsible for touching up the graded areas should any erosion occur in the meantime.
